BLISS BENCH

Basic idea in the process of the design study for my bench in the Athens area, was the need to create an industrial product that its design form, expresses lines of the modern era in relation to the environment of the Athenian Greek culture and tradition. Inspired by the Japanese art of folding Origami. Experimented in thin flat forms with possible creasing that would give a static semantic structure. The laser cut main structure symbolizes a pattern of Greek needleworks. Thus such patterns, indicate conditions of time, cultural influences and aesthetic standards of Athens and of all Greece. Finally thinking values resulting from a needlecraft, such patience and perseverance during the creation and the satisfaction on the completion and the pleasure in offering as a gift for subsequent generations gave it a name that encompasses the above.
