Project Details

Polifilon, a partition space library system. It consists of (strips) pieces of plywood (through out) birch dimensional 152x25x1cm derived by cutting from a standard sheet of birch plywood dimensions 153x305x1cm. Such A sheet provides 12 pieces composition with zero wastage. The manufacturing process requires only two steps. First step is the cutting-punching and routing_mitre cut (cutting angle in width) in each sheet and the second step is the finish-polishing with satin impregnating varnish. The pieces leaf manually bent because of the particular perforation pattern interval by enabling each sheet (strip) to get the shape of an isosceles triangle with zero material tension . Its design enables the system to multiply in the space in all three axes (x, y, z) by creating visual coincidence between the segments and result in more systems additions together, produce a uniform aesthetic. The polifilon has low material cost, only two stages of construction, is lightweight, requires little packaging, it is easy to transport and storage, it is assembled very easily and without tools, and it develops flexible space with dual usability, as a separator, and a library.
